My Story
I was born in Florence, South Carolina, and came to New York in the 70’s. My journey has been shaped by experiences that taught me at an early age about resilience, faith, and the importance of having support when life becomes difficult.
Domestic violence in my home contributed to my family’s move to New York. I was raised in the Baptist faith, and spirituality has remained an important part of how I understand life, healing and personal growth.
One of the most defining of my childhood was losing my mother to mental illness. Although she is still living and doing better, her illness meant that I had to learn how to navigate much of life without the presence and guidance of my mother. That loss affected me deeply and influenced many of the choices and challenges I would face later in life.
My journey eventually included addiction and the difficult work of rebuilding my life. Today, I am grateful to have 23 years in recovery. My experiences have taught me that our past can shape us, but it does not have to determine where our story ends.
Professionally, my background includes five years of experience as a Medical Assistant as well as ten years as a Substance Abuse Counselor. I am now a Certified Life & Health Coach and the founder of Women In Crisis of NY, an organization created from my desire to support women facing some of the same kinds of life- altering challenges I understand personally.
I am the mother of three and grandmother of six and along with with everything else I have experience throughout my own life, has deepened my compassion for people who are struggling to find their way through change, loss, trauma, addiction, uncertainty, or simply the feeling of being stuck.
I don’t coach from a place of believing that I have all the answers. I believe that sometimes people need to have a safe space to be heard, the right questions to help them look within, and someone who can walk alongside them as they rediscover their own strength.
This is why I choose this path, and why this means so much to me.
My purpose is to help women heal from the experience that continues to hold them back, reconnect with who they are, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.
Your past is part of your story. It doesn’t have to be the end of it.
